Warming up
We lit the fire this week. It's turned cold. The blankets are back on the kids beds, I’ve been making soup and back into layering the woollen clothing.....
And doesn’t this just make you appreciate the season (as well as making your mouth water?) A Sunday afternoon picnic paella. Bring on the months ahead of rich stews and curry’s, soups for lunch and comfort food in general. We’re ready for it! It’s Mother’s Day today, I’m not sure what the day will be bringing for us, hopefully some cuddles and a bath and book the round out the day, maybe we’ll end up in the paddock or just around the kitchen table eating a big plate of comfort. HMD to everyone, whatever your situation, I hope its kept low-key with just the right amount of love. Sxx

Work this week…..
Did you see this? It’s incredible.
The lady on the left is shearer Cathy Wendelborn, handing a staple of wool to the lady on the right, who is, of course HRH Queen Elizabeth. Cathy was 5 months pregnant at the time, in fact she often shore sheep right up to the end of all her pregnancies and while breastfeeding her children. Cathy is on our Women Behind Wool podcast this week. Her unwavering character is what makes her legendary, as well as her ability as a shearer, often beating the men in open shearing competitions, which transformed the shearing shed in Australia forever, as women shearers were finally accepted.
Also working on not one, but two new podcasts at the moment, which we are finally getting closer to releasing …… more to come in the following weeks.
And I’m busy recording for my flagship podcast, Company, which will return for another season at the end of May/June.
Autumn is SO my season, you have made me look forward to it even more! Really glad I found your Substack :) R x
Happy Mother's Day to you, too, dear Skye. Such a lovely Sunday morning read! xxx
