Something has surprised me about 'days'
People were actually talking about IWD - I think we're getting better at it.
I treated myself to a facial on Friday afternoon at 4.15pm. Absolute heaven. This is not normal dear readers. I needed to drive 1.4 hours to get to there and so, was not going to hurry home at the end of it. I treating myself (again) to an Aperol afterwards and watched people all dressed up heading to their Friday night drinks (there is magic in people watching) - and then while eavesdropping on conversations I heard a common theme: International Womens Day, people were actually talking about it. Personally, I was beyond touched by excitement from an article Rabobank wrote on me for the day - so many people have messaged me about it - making my heat swell. A lot. Then I saw some true, real, representitive depictions on social media - they were not token - there was ‘Count Me In’ a poem by Grace Brennan of BFTB and then there way the above which I found on Stephanie Corkhill-Hyles’ feed which clearly I dip into daily.
The words bubbling to the surface are words that describe a true reality for women - and for me at least it resonates strongly - I see it as a ‘day’ that’s a chance to put a marker in the sand to share some realities - and even if we don’t do ‘days’ we’re all here for the words of others, cleverly bringing to life our lived truths.

Kimberley Furness of Oak Magazine has a new poddie that you might want to get into your weekly routine. She Makes News delves into the headlines with discussion from female rural leaders, community people and awesome chicks!
To follow; She released an episode with one of my mentors Belinda Mawhinney this week. This woman, is intelligent, generous and realistic about leadership and career and personal development from rural Australia, driven by her background in social work. Listen and you will hear.
ALSO DID YOU HEAR THE NEWS? Maggie MacKellar has been long-listed for the Stella Prize for her book Graft. I worked really closely with Maggie when recording The Farm Diaries for Graziher - it was an absolute privilege - and as a result I feel this achievement of hers like a proud buddy - I am beaming for her, I think we all feel a bit like this when it comes to Maggie - grounded, unassuming and yet so hugely modest in her brilliance.

This caught my eye: Lipstick sales are up and apparently that means economic downturn.
If you haven’t had time to listen to our Company conversation with Annabelle Hickson all about the business of Galah Press - do make time. But this dovetails nicely considering Galah has just employed Tamsin Carvan as its new ‘obsessions correspondent’. It’s about the beauty of absurdity, slightly different from obsession but still shows appreciation for dedication to a cause.
Inspired by Outlandish Ventures lates garden conference which I was lucky enough to attend - this paper on Australian perspectives on rewilding.
