The galah’s outside my window have gone all kamakaze with glee. Rain time means play time for these noisy creatures. Round and round and round like the Zipper they spin around the electrical wire: one’s trying to grip on by its tiny beak and then alongside, another is knocking his neighbour off as he spreads his wings in hope of a wash (?!). This cacophony of delight, it makes me laugh, they are fruit loops the lot of them.
This Saturday, we have been standing sideline, under an umbrella and in gumboots while our boys play multiple games of touch footy in the endless rain and mud and then celebrate with a group belly slide through the sludge. We have good slow-mo footage. They are fruit loops too, so are we for standing around and watching.
Wishing you a cosy, relaxing and fruit loopy Sunday dear readers.

This on Conversations - we should all listen to it - an account of how ‘play free’ society changed and we all became scared to let children roam, and now we have them in our living rooms all the time, not connecting with real-life community, but ones on screens.

This pile of things to read
This is so good - local lady (Yass) Nikki Lyons broke a shearing world record in my cousins shearing shed last weekend - she shore 395 merino lambs in 8 hours. That’s about one a minute. Can you image shearing just one sheep, let along being at it for 8 hours. She’d been in training for 18 months, waking at 4am six days a week and worked with a team including a nutritionist, mindset coach and shearing trainer. Oh yeah, another thing each lamb had to be individually washed beforehand ( I think this was to ensure they were as easy to shear as possible ie clean as clean wool). She’s on my list.
- author of All Fours - has made her way to Instagram. I think she might make my life better.Does everything have to be organised?
This beautiful read on Intergenerational friendship.
This is soooooo good - converting the famous Busselton Jetty into a catwalk for sustainable fashion.
Did you know the Magic Faraway Tree is going to be made into a film?

Getting into the Christmas Spirit
I’m excited because for the first time in forever - we have a Christmas Tree and it’s not even December yet. I’m determined to make a month of it in 2024.
To whet you appetite; I’ve found so truely lovely and wonderful Christmas advertisements that are just like movies;
