Hello, it is Thea here. Skye has bravely handed over the reins for this week’s newsie to me. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous, but I have so many wonderful thoughts, musings and riveting rural women to share with you. It is my hope to bring you the best of the best from north of the Tropic of Capricorn, and my word there is plenty to share with you. So, for now, it’s nice to meet you and consider me your new friend in the north. Thea x

Podcast Playlist
A couple of times recently I have heard the phrase ‘negativity is contagious’ and listening to Hidden Brain’s podcast on How to Complain Productively shed so much light on this topic for me. It’s all about the psychology behind complaining and why re-hashing negative events keeps the negative feeling at the surface, making it almost seem like it happened yesterday.
Then I went down figurative rabbit hole, with Calm It Down’s The Foolish Lion and The Clever Rabbit. Emotions are a massive part of our lives, as is our reaction TO our emotions, so I found this listen really interesting. There’s also something about Chad Lawson’s voice I found so soothing as I folded my 4578th load of laundry for the week.
Rounding out my audio week was Humans of Agriculture with Prue Bondfield on the power of being different. I loved Prue’s positivity about being ‘the token woman’ on boards and how different perspectives can empower you.

This pile of things to read
Everyone is talking about Rihanna after her Superbowl performance. I didn’t watch it directly but feel as though it flooded my social media feed for the weeks after. So, this article about Rihanna from British Vogue surprised me; there’s more to this woman than I first gave her credit for.
Some of you might recall from my Q&A with Skye, I have rekindled my love of reading and my thirst for my next read is bigger than ever. This article from Primer ‘Best Literary Book Series’ immediately got my attention. I think I’ve settled on an Elizabeth Strout for my next bedtime read.
Anna Spiro is my design crush. The colours, the textures, her wardrobe - ugh it makes me drool. SMH’s quick fire interview with Anna rounds out this week’s reads.
