I’m perched up in bed on Saturday evening with a mug of hot chocolate. It’s 8.00pm, and still outside, I can hear crickets and calm and I wonder what sort of sleep this full mooned night will give me. If my phone’s photo reel is anything to go by, life of late has been about flowers and nothing else it seems. And I am happy with that, even though it’s not really the case, the weeks are bursting at the seems (I know you are all the same) but at the moment mine are always bookended with flowers - buying, watering, stripping, chopping, poking, prodding, wrapping, delivering - and I couldn’t be happier about it.
I cannot let you go without a reminder that our most popular podcast Daily Routines came back to life this week. See it’s not all flowers! Each week paid subscribers will get first dibs to new episodes on a Wednesday - alongside occasional extra tips, tricks and personal insights, I say occasional because I cannot guarantee these extra’s will be there every week but it’s most definitely our intention. Free subscribers will receive access (audio only) a week later. I’m doing it this way because I really cherish my paid community and I’m are committed to providing extra’s that are really valuable and unique and fun. I really hate, continually asking people to consider joining our paid community but I promise, now is a good time to do it!
This week’s episode of Daily Routines is with UK based Sophie Godwin who has just released her cookbook Sundays. Needless to say, the podcast is about a perfect Sunday - and let me tell you - it’s pretty perfect. There’s a whole lot of not much, some cooking, scrolling and couching and I want all my Sunday’s to be like Sophie’s! Next guest is Bec Fing - who is a power woman - I caught up with her this week and she is pretty unstoppable, and lovely and generous all in one.
Podcast playlist
It still seems too early to be talking Christmas but I cannot wait for the fresh season of Beth Kempton’s Calm Christmas podcast. Have you heard it? It’s just the most cosy listen ever. Highly recommend.
First Eat on Audible is a very timely listen- through the lens of food and home cooking, Nakkiah Lui goes on a self discovery of her aboriginal heritage and asks the question would our meals would look different if First Nations people owned the land from which the food came? It’s political and personal and is purposefully provocative but in such an clever way. It certainly had me hooked, and it made me feel quite uncomfortable in parts. becasue it really puts into question Australia’s generational ‘family farm’. But it’s not solely about that, there’s also exploration of obesity, indigenous foods and her family’s favourite meals. Strong recommend. Here’s a review.

So much happening at the moment and so many exciting things happening for ish brands and businesses:
HOORAY, yup in caps, to Munro & Co and Elise Croker who was awarded Air BnB’s Best Design Stay 2023 for her Crookwell creation Mister Munro. Elsie is not only the most gorgeous person but seriously thrifty and talented in doing up homes. I listened back to our podcast interview and the title is true: Elise Croker will inspire you start your own rural BnB.
Louise O’Neill from Farm Life Fitness, based at Mt Romance, Denmark, WA is doing Retreats - this is new to me! Perfect excuse to get yourself to the West. 3-5 days of exercise, classes, hikes, workshops and rest. On in November and again in February 2024.
Beloved Julia Spicer OAM, aka Chief Entrepreneur QLD, is rebranding to juliaspicer.com - and in her email update she just left this here for us all to sit and think about. Set aside an hour: reflect on the year that’s been and then pay yourself on the back!
‘Hustling for presence’ I have thought about this a. lot.

I have been listening to Beth’s podcast and I am loving it. I’m actually listening to it with my mum, who is listening from the uk. She’s here for Christmas this year and for the first time in 9 years I will have her with me for Christmas. I am over the moon! Thanks for the recommendation. Enjoy your flowers skye. Also keen to get back into your daily routines podcast. I listened to Annabelle Hickson’s a while ago and it was just so perfectly her 👌🏼💛
