Cattle ranches, cakes and confined spaces
Happy Sunday morning near readers, I wonder where you are reading from this morning? Bed? Cafe? Kitchen Table? Hotel Room? Flight lounge? It would be fun to know! When you’re reading I’ll be packing up for a day of making and selling pretty bunches of flowers at The Royal Hotel Dalton - it’s going to be a prefect day for lunch in the beer garden and a spot of shopping on the side - so if you’re local, come and say hi.
There seems to be a rather ‘nostalgic’ theme here today ie Walkman’s, old fabrics etc etc - so I think/know you’ll really love that! Enjoy. Sxx
Podcast playlist
I dipped back into Radio Cherry Bombe this week- still the same awesome introduction music and Kerry Diamond is still the host - it was like catching up with old friends - I ventured there to hear the back story from Lucie of From Lucies (cakes) in NY.
I mentioned this to my paid subscribers on Wednesday by this pod with Cath Kidson is divine. Talks about love of fabrics, childhood interiors and she seems a very laid lady in general. I adored this.

This pile of things to read
This list of ‘things to improve your mood’ by poet Rupi Kaur who’s work I am coming to absolutely love. ‘Walk yourself back to where love lives.’
An incredible NY Times read on the cattle ranch bordering New Mexico and recoveing thousands upon thousands of immigrants weekly. Just imagine.
I must have a thing for confined spaces - lighthouses, submarines and the like - this is journalism like I’ve never seen it. While on board a military submarine the writer is taken into the world of global warfare, which we are lucky to not see here, but maybe one day we will? Via Longreads.
And to lighten the mood - here’s the beautiful Kate Winslet on Net-A-Porter.
