I thought I was just ‘cleaning up’ this week. Of course I supposed to be working, but the pull to clean was strong - I achieved a lot and it felt good*. When I thought about it more, I realised a sort of shedding was taking place. I was nesting. Deep cleaning. Rearranging and creating pretty corners on mantle pieces, bedside tables and this in the office. I lay down a book on my desk, opened the pages to ‘Autumn’.
“Autumn is the season of gathering and grounding. Both concepts influence your energy and your beauty as you transition from Summer to Autumn and you strive for balance before the arrival of Winter.” - Jolene Hart, CHC, AADP, Eat Pretty Every Day
It was a seasonal shedding. Maybe that’s why it felt so good. *We complain a lot about domestic life and cleaning but I’ve got to say when I’m a bit ho-hum, a good clean (like inside the cupboards and unseen places) , clothes fold and put-away, flower refresh and top drawer re-organise - does the world of good for me, all the slates need to be clean before any form of relaxation or rebalancing can occur. But now I’m ready.

This pile of things to read
Love this chick, a rural photographer that should have more spotlight. They all should, actually.
Caught this on the RN wireless this week, the dumb phone in action. Also love the reference to x 2 lawn mowing accounts that “I probably don’t need to be watching.” I think I am guilty.
The gentle agony of book reading.
Speaking about ‘the menopause’ in a positive light. You never hear it like this.
Community owned pubs in the UK on the rise.

Oh my goodness I so got your comments on nesting cleaning and flowering - totally in the same frame of mind at the moment - and what a lovely feeling when you look at that clean, tidy cupboard, those flowers from the garden looking pretty on the sideboard to bring the outdoors in! Maybe it's lucky we have a bit more time before winter comes, because I seem to have a lot to still organise! Perhaps best solution is to not look too hard and appreciate the done bits! Happy days and enjoy the cooling of Autumn and the colourings that the seasonal change brings - at least in my part of the world!
