A few of our favourite Christmas things...
Celebrating and elevating our fave rural businesses with our 2023 Christmas Gift Guide
Eep, it’s now less than a month until Christmas. To help you get ahead, or maybe it’s just keeping up! We’ve pulled together this 2023 Christmas Gift List.
I know that our inboxes can get swamped by Christmas Gift Lists at this time of the year - but this one, I promise, is different.
Firstly, we aren’t selling anything and secondly, you can guarantee that the products in this newsletter are tried, tested, loved and drooled over by either Thea or I.
And finally, this beautiful email is designed to be shared around, so please feel free to pass it on. And last… thank you, Thea who designed and detailed La List and did a brilliant job.
Our aim is to bring some excellent, perhaps unseen, rural business products into your inner orbit and with our seal of approval we hope that you become big supporters of them too.
So grab your cuppa, prop yourself up with a pillow and enjoy this Sunday morning shopping spree. T and S xxx
Mum Club: Hats, but cooler. For mums, dads, and even grandmas. The softness of these Mum Club caps make them effortless to wear and perfect on the days when washing your hair is optional but getting out the door to the bus is critical. My personal fave - I’m Grandma - in on-trend mustard and brown with embroidery that is subtle enough to be cool, but cheeky enough to get a smile. This one is perfect for the cool grandma or gigi or mimi - or whatever you call your OG matriarch. (Thea)
Wattle I Gift encapsulates the tastes and smells of the bush. I looooooovvve the Dunworrie Dukkah so all the foodies in my family will be getting the ‘tucker box’ this year. By gifting one of these divine sage-green boxes you’ll help to celebrate and support the makers, creators and growers of outback Australia. Perfect for your city-dwelling cousin or kid’s teachers. (Thea)
Ruth Chaplain: I adore the colour and luminosity Ruth injects into her art. The ‘paint by numbers’ kits of her original artworks are the perfect gift for a group of friends with the promise of your very own paddock paint and sip to follow. (Thea)
Bec Fing Designs: The queen of bright and bold, Bec Fing has these effortless silk scarves in four different designs which are buttery soft to touch and will elevate any outfit on a quick dash to town. An ideal gift for the colour lovers in your life.
Luone: Hi It’s Skye here - I - or I should say we - are saving our pennies to purchase one of Luone’s stunning necklaces. Luone founder Lucinda Newton creates all her jewellery by hand in her shopfront at Port Fairy in SA. Today we're recommending you have a look at her pendants which can be mixed and matched with any necklaces you may already have. I should say give this gift to your Woman but I'm pretty sure there are no husbands reading this, so women, take note, and put it on the wishlist for your other half.
Lindner Socks: I think people are getting sick of me talking about these. It is not a joke that I have a drawer full of Lindner Socks ready to gift in our hallway. These socks are just beautiful to wear, because of course, they are made of Australian Merino Wool. They are warm, cosy, your feet do not sweat, they are sturdy and can be worn with your Birkenstocks. I give Lindner Socks to boys, all the tricky boys. They are also the perfect cuddle for a friend going through a tough time or any kind of chemo/cancer treatment.
Aerohart: I am yet to meet pilot and interior designer Yolande Woods but all I have to say is Aerohart is the kind of bush business we want to be celebrating. Look at the style of the ‘Tourer case’! It belongs in Milan but it comes from a woman working on a cattle station in Goondiwindi, QLD. Give this one to your most stylish sister or leather loving friend.
Western QLD Spirit: If sipping refreshing cocktails is on your to do list this summer, then you and your cousin, sister-in-law and neighbours need to get your hands on a bottle of Western QLD Spirit craft gin brewed outside of Roma. Look no further than the ‘Desert Oasis Gin’ with a forward note of orange and mandarin, it's balanced with river mint and strawberry gum and has a slight ginger kick that leaves you wanting another sip. Or why not try the ‘Outback Gin’; a great cocktail gin or paired with a lighter style tonic and sipped with a slice of dehydrated lemon.
Le Sac: As you may - or may not - know I've had my head deep in flower land for the last few months - and let me tell you LE SAC has been firmly wrapped around my waist. It's a sturdy canvas belt with room for my phone, secateurs, zip ties and even a second pair of scissors. It's created by mother and daughter-in-law duo Trisha and Sahra Dixon. I admire anything Trisha does (if I could have 10 people in the world dead or alive to dinner, she would be at mine), she has eons of experience in the garden so creating this super handy accessory seems like a natural evolution of all she does. Gift this one to anyone who loves to garden.
Love Thy Farmer: It would not be a Company on Sunday's Christmas Gift List without a bit of Liberty. These prints, steeped in Old English history are part of our DNA. Love thy Farmer has a handful of clever Liberty products (i.e. not pictured are their super-cute Liberty boxer shorts). If you have someone dear to you, ironing board cover, napkins or table cloth will be the go. Love thy Farmer is run by two clever ladies, Sarah (Brisbane) and Melinda (Dalby) both originally from Wee Waa, they have six children between them.))
Heat Pack From Tasmania: Look I know it's not really wheatbag weather but anyone who knows me knows I love a good wheatbag. I'm not seen without one for well, most of winter. I've even considered a-nother business making them. Ha! But HeatPack from Tasmania have nailed the perfect bag - combining two of my favourite things Wool and Wheatbags. Gift one to anyone who's a cold frog.
For the little readers in your life Oscar and Pendlebury: Behind the Blue Door is a story about overcoming fears and finding the strength to try new things. Gorgeous pastel illustrations bring this sweet story to life. And for those rainy summer nights, you can even download some free colouring sheets from the website to create your own colourful characters.
We hope this collection of our favourite things makes your Christmas shopping that little bit easier. Skye and Thea x
